Christmas Bells

Christmas Bells

Key Verse

Mark 16:15

Additional Verses

Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 9:22; Acts 1:8

Materials Needed

  • Bell. You can use a large bell or Christmas decoration bells. If you want you can get small Christmas bells and tie them to a piece of ribbon to give out to everyone.

Object Lesson

(Shake the bell loudly.)

Don’t you love the sound of a jingling bell? Often times near Christmas we will sing the carol:

Jingle bells
Jingle bells
Jingle all the way!

The sound of jingling bells is a joyful sound and not a sad sound. It is a sound that reminds us that the celebration of Jesus’ birth is near.

What do you think would happen if I took the little metal ball out from the inside of the bell? Or if I hold the bell tightly in my hand? (Hold the bell tightly so that the sound is muffled.)

Does that sound very joyful? No!

We are a lot like this little bell. Jesus wants us to ring out for Him! He wants us to tell the world the Good News about Christmas. The news that the Savior was born in a manger and He came to give us eternal life.

Jesus does not wants us to muffle our bell. (Muffle the sound again.) He wants us to ring loudly from the joy that is inside of us. Just like the bell rings loudly because of what is inside it.

Let us ring loudly for Jesus and tell everyone the Good News about Christmas.

Beautiful Feet

beautiful feet

Key Verse

Romans 10:15

Additional Verses

Isaiah 52:7; Nahum 1:15; Ephesians 6:15

Materials Needed

  • Your feet

Object Lesson

How many of you like feet? Do you like how they look? Do you like how they smell? I’m going to show you what my feet look like.

(Take off your socks and shoes and shoe off your lovely feet.) 🙂

Take a look at my feet! Aren’t they SO beautiful? Would you like to smell my feet? (Wait for a response.) I didn’t think so!

Feet are usually not the most beautiful feature of someone’s body. We may think someone has a beautiful face or hands, but we usually think that someone has beautiful feet.

Sometimes feet have fungus. Maybe a foot might have a yellow or black toenail. Some feet have warts or bunions. A lot of feet smell pretty stinky. These things are certainly not beautiful.

Do you know who likes feet? God does! In fact he says that some people’s feet are beautiful! In Romans 10:15 it says that God think your feet are beautiful if are telling people the Good News about Jesus! It doesn’t matter if you have a big wart, a yellow toenail and if they stink like a skunk! God says that your feet are beautiful!

Have you ever told a friend about God? Have you ever invited someone to church? Have you ever helped someone who was in need? Have you ever prayed with someone? God loves it when we do this! God wants us to go and make disciples of all people and tell them about the Salvation we can get through Jesus.

How do your feet look? Does God think your feet are beautiful?

Key Verse

Mark 13:10

Additional Verses

Romans 1:15-17; 1 Corinthians 1:17; 1 Corinthians 9:23; 1 Corinthians 15:1-2; Colossians 1:5-7

Materials Needed

  • Newspaper
  • Bible

Object Lesson

(Show everyone the news paper and pretend to read it.)

Do you know what this is? (Wait for a response.) It’s a newspaper! Many of us don’t use these anymore because we get our news on the Internet, but some people still like to read them. Do you know what a newspaper does? It writes stories about the things that happened recently.

Do you know what the sad thing about a newspaper is though? Most of the news in it is bad. (Read some of the headlines if they are appropriate.) It tells stories about who stole from who. How bad the government is. Who hurt someone. Stories about war. Stories about storms. It’s all a bunch of BAD NEWS!

I don’t know about you, but I get sick and tired of all the bad news! I want some good news! Do you want some good news? If someone says to you that they have “good news” and “bad news” which do you want to hear? The good news!

(Hold up the Bible.)

This is the Bible, God’s Word, the Gospel…the Good News! Do you know why this is called the Good News? Because it doesn’t tell us all the bad things about the world, it tells us how to live a new life. How to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ! It shows us how we can have Salvation and how Christ has prepared a place for us to live with Him in Heaven.

In Mark 13:10 it tells us that we are supposed to tell other people about this Good News that we have! We are not supposed to just keep it to ourselves! We are supposed to share it.

We are told in the Scripture that we need to tell others about Jesus and how they can be saved. This is the Good News! Let’s share it with others!

Parable of the Sower

Parable of the Sower Object Lesson

Key Verse

Matthew 13:1-23

Additional Verses

Mark 4:1-20; Luke 8:1-15

Materials Needed

  • Four buckets of dirt
  • Rocks
  • Thorn branches
  • Seeds

Preparation

Fill the four buckets full of dirt. Pack the dirt down really hard in one bucket. Fill the top of one bucket with dirt. Stick thorn branches in another. The last bucket should have good soil.

Object Lesson

(Have the four buckets lined up.)

In Matthew 13:1-23 Jesus told a story about a farmer who went out to plant his field. As he was scattering the seed some of it fell onto the path that was packed down hard. (Show the bucket with the packet dirt and sprinkle some seeds on it.) But guess what happened? The birds saw it and swooped down and gobbled it all up! (Use your hand like a bird to sweep down and peck at the seed.)

(Show everyone the bucket with the rocks in it and sprinkle some seeds on it.) Some of the seed fell onto the stony dirt. How well do you think a plant would grow here? The seeds started to grow really quickly, but the roots were not able to grow deep. The sun came out and was so hot that all the plants died.

(Show the bucket with the thorns and sprinkle some seeds.) Some of the seeds fell in the thorn bushes. Do you think the plants would grow well here? They started to grow but the thorn bushes were hogging all of the sunlight, water and nutrients and choked out the baby plants.

(Show the good soil and plant some seeds.) Some of the seed fell onto the good soil! Do you think that the plants would grow here? Of course they would! The plants grew and grew and produced a lot of food!

After Jesus told this story his disciples came to him because they were confused. They asked him to tell them what the story meant. Jesus told them that the seeds (hold up the seeds) represents the Good News about God. The path (hold up the bucket with the hard packed dirt) represents those people that hear God’s Word but don’t believe it, then the enemy comes and quickly snatches it up.

The rocky dirt (hold up the bucket with the stones) is the people that hear God’s Word and get really excited about it but their roots never go down into His Word by studying and obeying the Bible. As soon as hardship comes they fall away from God.

The soil with the thorns (show the bucket with the thorns) represents those that hear God’s Word and begin to grow but soon fall away because they are distracted by the things of this world and trying to please other people.

The good soil (show the bucket with the good dirt) is the person that hears God’s Word and understands it. They begin to do what it says that they grow and grow and their life produces many good things!
