Additional Verses
Galatians 5:22-23; John 13:34; 1 John 4:20; 1 John 4:7-8; 1 Peter 4:8; Romans 12:10
Materials Needed
- Strawberry. Feel free to bring plenty to pass out.
Object Lesson
In Galatians 5:22-23 we learn about the Fruit of the Spirit. These are things that we should producing when we are living a life following Christ. The first one is talks about is the fruit of Love.
Do you know what love is? Love is when we care for someone more than we care about our own life. In 1 John 4:11 is says that God wants us to love one another because He loves us so much.
(Show everyone the strawberries.)
These are delicious strawberries and today they are going to represent the fruit of love. On Valentine’s Day people will often give someone they love a box of chocolate covered strawberries. Have you ever had a chocolate covered strawberry before? They are delicious!
(Hold up the strawberry so it looks like a heart.)
If you look at a strawberry it kind of looks like a heart we will often tell people that we love them “with all our heart.” God wants us to love Him with all of our heart! He also wants us to love others the same way.
(Take a bite of the strawberry.)
Strawberries are so sweet and delicious. God’s love is sweet, and he wants us to be sweet and loving to those that are around us as well.
God has loved us so much and He wants us to love those around us in return. In 1 John 4:7-8 it says that if we say that we love God but don’t love others then we really aren’t loving God at all. He wants us to love one another.

Never Changing
Key Verse
Hebrews 13:8
Additional Verses
James 1:17; Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 1:12
Materials Needed
- Colorful fall leaves. (If you don’t have any you can cut them out of colored construction paper or buy them at most craft stores.)
Object Lesson
(Show a variety of fall leaves).
During autumn all the leaves on the trees start to change colors. Red. Orange. Yellow. Brown. Do you know what they do after they change color? They fall down to the ground. That’s why we call it the Fall. Then we rake the leaves and we can jump and play in them.
Did you know that God is NOT like these leaves? In Hebrews 13:8 we read that Jesus is the same yesterday as He is today! And that He will be the same tomorrow too! That means we can trust, rely and depend on Him!
These leaves grow and are blown by the wind and they eventually change colors, die and fall to the ground. But Jesus will never change like that. Sometimes people change that way, but not God.
God is faithful and trustworthy. We can always rely on Him to do what He says and to keep His promises. His word is always true!
So when we drive around and see the beautiful fall leaves we should remember that even though they may change our God will never change! He will always be there for us to love us and to protects us.

Cross-O-Lantern Pumkpin
Key Verse
John 8:12
Additional Verses
John 12:46; John 9:5; Psalm 18:28; Acts 13:47; Isaiah 60:1
Materials Needed
- Pumpkin
- Candle. Should be a candle that is sturdy
- Matches or lighter
Preparation
Cut the top off of the pumpkin and scoop out the seeds like you are making a jack-o-lantern. Carve a cross on one side of the pumpkin.
Object Lesson
(Start the lesson with the pumpkin facing the audience and the cross turned towards you.)
Usually around Halloween people like to celebrate scary and spooky things like ghosts, witches and monsters. What time of day do people generally say that these spooky things come out? At night! In the darkness. We know that these things are not real, but sometimes they still scare us. When people do evil things they will often do it in the darkness so that no one will see what they are doing.
When Jesus came He called us out of the darkness. He doesn’t want us to be filled with sin. He doesn’t want us to put our attention on scary things. In John 8:12 Jesus says that He is the light of the world and if you follow Him you won’t have to walk in darkness because you have the light that leads to life.
(Take the top off the pumpkin.)
Our lives often feel kind of like this pumpkin. Empty and dark inside. But Jesus wants to fill us with His light. (Light the candle and put it inside the pumpkin.)
Now the pumpkin is filled with the light and love of Christ. It is a very exciting thing when Christ fills us. We don’t feel empty any longer.
Now that we are full of His light, God doesn’t want us to just keep it to our self. He wants us to let His light shine through us.
(Turn the pumpkin around so everyone can see the cross and the light shining out.)
He wants us to shine the light of Jesus and the sacrifice that He made on the cross. When we allow God’s love and light to shine through us we are bringing light and hope to a very dark world.

Make Your Sins Disappear
Key Verse
1 John 1:9
Additional Verses
Romans 3:23; Ephesians 4:32; Matthew 6:15; Acts 2:38; Matthew 6:12
Materials Needed
- Flash Paper. You can purchase it online or at a local magic shop or it you are daring you can try to make it yourself.
- Pen or pencil
Preparation
Practice this beforehand so that you understand how quickly the flash paper will burn! What you will do is hold a sheet and light the bottom corner and as it burns higher up let it go and it will completely vanish.
Object Lesson
Have any of you ever committed a sin? Have you ever done anything wrong before? What is something that you have done that is wrong? (Let the kids answer and write their answers on the piece of flash paper).
Now this paper doesn’t look very clean does it? How many of you have ever felt like this paper, dirty all over and covered in sin? Some people try to hide the fact that they have sinned. (Crumple up the paper and hold it in your closed hand). The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glorious standard. Just ignoring the sin didn’t make it go away did it?
God wants to completely forgive you of your sins and make you a brand new person inside. Doesn’t that sound great? Jesus promises us in 1 John 1:9 that He will forgive us of every wrong thing that we have done if we will apologize and ask Jesus to forgive us. We need to accept His free gift. Then God promises that He will completely take our sins away.
(Light the paper on fire, and it will instantly burn up with no residue or ash).
Just like those sins on that paper are gone Jesus wants to make your sins disappear too if you will let Him come and forgive you.
We Are All One
Key Verse
Galatians 3:28
Additional Verses
Colossians 3:11; 1 Corinthians 12:12-30; Ephesians 4:2-5; Acts 17:26-28; 1 Corinthians 9:20
Materials Needed
- Several varieties of apples (different colors and sizes)
Object Lesson
(Hold up one of the apples.)
Does anyone know what kind of fruit this is? (Wait for a response.) That’s right this is an apple. What color is it? (Wait for response.)
(Show a different apple.)
Do you know what type of fruit this is? (Allow for a response.) Yes, it is also an apple.
(Continue showing all the apples.)
Tell me what is different about these pieces of fruit? (Wait for a response.) They are different colors. Some are different shapes. Some are big. Some are little. I have several varieties here.
(Can you tell me what is the same about this fruit that I have? (Wait for a response.) They are all apples! They all have a stem. They all have a peel. They all have seeds inside. And they all taste delicious!
This reminds me about how God created people equally. We may look different on the outside. Some of us may be African, Hispanic, white, Eskimo, Indian, or a variety of other nationalities. Some of us may be thin, or some of us may be chubby. Some of us are boys while others are girls.
The Scriptures tell us in Galatians 3:28 that we are all one in Christ. This means that we are equal. So if we are all one in Christ we should treat each others the same way we want to be treated regardless of how they look.
We should not look down on someone because they are not the same as us. If we are going to be a Church that reaches others we will need to work together.

Bad Company Corrupts Good Character
Key Verse
1 Corinthians 15:33
Additional Verses
Proverbs 13:20; Proverbs 14:7; Psalms 1:1-4; 2 Corinthians 6:14
Materials Needed
- Basket of good apples
- One rotten apple
Preparation
Bury the rotten apple in the basket of fresh apples.
Object Lesson
Does anyone here like apples? Apples are such a delicious fruit. You can use them to make juice, pies, or just eat them plain! Did you know that the apple is part of the rose family? One of the great things about apples is that they will stay fresh for a month or more if you keep them cool!
I have a nice basket of fresh apples here, but did you know that these apples won’t stay fresh for very long? In fact, I guarantee that they will be rotten in just a few days! How do I know this? (Start taking out apples until you get to the rotten one and hold it up.)
There is a rotten apple in here! Would anyone like to take a bite out of this one? Did you know that if a rotten apple is touching another apple the fresh apple will start to rot too? And then it spreads quickly from apple to apple. Before you know it then entire basket of apples will be rotten! Just because I left one rotten apple in here.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:33 that “bad company corrupts good character.” That means when you hang around people who are a bad influence if will begin to rub off on you. You might not even notice it at first, but you will start picking up their bad habits and acting like them. Before you know if you will be a bad influence too!
So be very careful when you are around people who are a bad influence. People that have a rotten heart. Don’t hang out with them! Because they will begin to pull you down and before you know if you may be acting just like them!

What Can Wash Away My Sins?
Key Verse
John 3:16
Additional Verses
Romans 3:23; Hebrews 9:22; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:8; Luke 13:3; John 3:36
Materials Needed
- Mirror, piece of glass or polished metal (could even be a TV or anything with a glass surface, but if you use a TV you will need to put a signal through it to make the marker visible)
- Red dry erase marker
- Black sharpie permanent marker
- Spray bottle with water in it
- Cloth or paper towel
Preparation
Make sure you try this before you do it live.
Object Lesson
(Hold up the mirror and let the kids look into it.)
What do you see? (Wait for responses.) You can see yourself in it so this mirror is going to represent you. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that, “all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glorious standard.” How many of you have ever done anything wrong? The Bible tells us that all of us have sinned, so let’s say you cheated at school.
(Put a mark on the glass or even write the name of the sin in small letters with the black permanent marker).
This permanent marker is going to represent the sins in our lives. Then later on you tell your parents a lie. (Put another mark on the glass).
Perhaps your parents ask you to take out the garbage, but you are very disrespectful and you disobey. (Put another mark on the glass.)
Maybe you start picking on your sister, and calling her names and hurt her feelings. (Put another mark on the glass).
Now this glass doesn’t look very clean anymore. Maybe you feel really bad about the things that you have done, so you try to do something nice to make up for it, maybe you offer to set the table. (Spray some water on the screen and try to rub the marker off).
You still feel bad though, because there is nothing that we can do to take away the sins in our lives. (Add a few more marks).
They keep adding up the more wrong things that we do. There is a way to remove the sin in our life though. It is by receiving the free gift of forgiveness that Jesus offers to all of us. Jesus died on the cross and shed his blood so that we can be forgiven. It says in Hebrews 9:22 that without the shedding of blood there can’t be forgiveness of sin. (Start drawing with the red dry erase marker all over the black ink, make sure to cover it all completely or you the permanent marker won’t come off.)
What was once impossible for us to do, Jesus can do with His blood. (Take the rag and wipe off all the ink.)
If you feel like your life is filled with all kinds of bad things like this mirror was, you need Jesus to clean you with His blood. You need to receive His free gift of eternal life, because only Jesus can remove the sin in our life.
